As the biggest lake in Georgia, Lake Lanier welcomes over 10 million guests annually. Unassuming and hidden from the city, this mountain paradise enchants guests with its 692 miles of shimmering water hugged by majestic trees and stunning blue skies.

Nestled along its shores, Camp Margaritaville RV Resort beckons nature lovers to delve into the water like never before, offering an array of boating options, fishing opportunities, specialty excursions, and nearby attractions easily accessible either by foot or the resort’s convenient shuttle service.

Ready to plan an outdoor escape that’s both effortless and packed with excitement? Explore a few of our favorite ways to enjoy the water before your Lake Lanier adventure.

Boating & Fishing

Boating

Life is better on the water, and luckily there are plenty of ways to get out and enjoy it on the biggest lake in Georgia. Whether you’re looking to leisurely float through the waves or zip from end to end, Harbor Landing offers every type of vessel to carry you across the island. Reserve a pontoon boat, Triton boat or Houseboat with water tubes and kneeboards available at an additional cost.

If you’re already a boat owner and just need a point to launch off, Margaritaville at Lanier Islands offers courtesy docking on a first-come, first-served basis at LandShark Landing. These complimentary slips are a great solution for day trippers and those who need rental equipment from the nearby Harbor Landing.

Fishing

Fed by North Georgia’s Chattahoochee River, Lake Lanier is a celebrated spot for anglers. Here, fishermen can reel in Crappie, Trout, Bluegill, Carp, Walleye, Gar, Catfish, Panfish and, plenty of Bass. In fact, Bass are so prevalent to the region that catching all three species —Largemouth, Striped, and Spotted— in the same day is called the “Lake Lanier Slam”. Locals recommend visiting during the spring, with early morning and evening trips providing the best chance of reeling in a catch.

For those looking to cast their line multiple times a day, Camp Margaritaville RV Resort’s lakefront location allows guests to hop in a boat and charge towards adventure within moments of their RV site, cabin or glamping tent.

Excursions, Waterslides & Beaches

Specialty Lake Excursions

If you’d rather sit back, sip a margarita and leave navigating to a captain, consider booking a Specialty Lake Excursion. These two-story pontoon boat rides last up to three hours, and offer stunning views of Georgia’s biggest lake. Whether you prefer to set the course early or late in the day, you’ll find a variety of themed excursions suited to your taste. Lean into the Vacation State of Mind with bottomless mimosas and a delicious brunch. Or, throw on a floral shirt and dance to the tunes.

Beaches and Waterslides

Not your ordinary waterpark, Margaritaville at Lanier Islands offers a thrilling experience in the center of North Georgia’s lush forest. Visitors can enjoy exciting entertainment options, including the state’s first water slide coaster, a splash zone for little ones, and a slide that catapults riders directly into Lake Lanier.

While the kids play, parents can unwind on the park’s private beach with a tropical concoction at The Tiki Bar, located next to Parakeet Springs. And, when hunger strikes, tasty snack options can be purchased at one of the various dining establishments, including the infamous LandShark Bar & Grill, which is open to park guests and the general public.
